JOB SUMMARY

The Security Officer provides security services for Campbell County Health facilities by patrolling buildings and grounds, monitoring security systems, controlling access, and responding to emergencies. Ensures the safety of patients, staff, and visitors while enforcing policies, investigating incidents, and completing required reports.


 


The shift for this position is Sunday through Tuesday, 6:00 am to 6:00 pm; Wednesday 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.


 



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS




  • Provides a visible deterrent to crime and prohibited or suspicious activities across all hospital properties, including buildings, grounds, and patient care areas.



  • Responds promptly and effectively to emergency and non-emergency situations.



  • Intervenes in crisis situations, demonstrating the ability to assess circumstances, build rapport, and apply appropriate supportive or directive approaches while following clinical staff guidance when applicable.



  • Performs physical interventions when necessary, including safely restraining individuals while minimizing risk of injury.



  • Escorts patients, visitors, and staff as needed.



  • Maintains situational awareness to prevent injury, property damage, or loss.



  • Communicates clearly and professionally with patients, staff, visitors, and vendors.



  • Understands and follows verbal and written instructions.



  • Prepares accurate, clear, and timely reports.



  • Maintains positive working relationships with coworkers, staff, and external partners.



  • Maintains knowledge of facility layouts, buildings, and grounds.



  • Enforces organizational policies and procedures.



  • Operates motor vehicles as required and maintains a valid driver’s license.



  • Remains free from governmental sanctions related to healthcare or financial practices.



  • Complies with all aspects of the Corporate Compliance Program, including the Code of Conduct, laws, regulations, and organizational policies.



  • Performs other duties as assigned; responsibilities may not be all-inclusive.




JOB QUALIFICATIONS




  • Education




    • High school diploma or equivalent required.





  • Licensure/Certification




    • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license.




      • Must be at least 21 years old and meet Campbell County Health (CCH) insurance and driver eligibility requirements, including a DMV license check per policy.





    • Must obtain and maintain required security licenses/certifications within 90 days of hire.



    • BLS certification required within 90 days of hire (per organizational policy).



    • IAHSS certification preferred but not required.





  • Experience




    • Previous experience in a public-facing or service-oriented role preferred.
