Duties and Responsibilities


This position is responsible for conducting audits and reviews of licensees and registrants under the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) and the International Registration Plan (IRP), respectively. This function involves reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating mileage and fuel records and recordkeeping systems to determine the accuracy of reported data and compliance with regulatory requirements. These audits and reviews are documented through preparation of comprehensive working papers and reports. As part of our customer outreach function, this position is also responsible for providing advice and assistance to new and existing licensees and registrants regarding proper recordkeeping techniques and systems and other regulatory issues concerning IFTA and IRP.


 


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 



  • Knowledge of accounting principles and auditing standards.

  • Skill in auditing, reviewing, or analyzing data for compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Skill in preparing and reviewing written reports and communicating the findings.

  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Skill in using Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Skill in accounting, bookkeeping, and fiscal practices.

  • Ability to review, analyze, and evaluate financial data.

  • Ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with internal and external customers.


 


Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:



  • Experience auditing, analyzing, and verifying data or information for accuracy and regulatory compliance. 

  • Experience composing, drafting, or preparing written reports of analysis. 

  • Experience verbally communicating analysis performed assessment results, recommendations, etc., to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Professional customer service experience that includes handling escalated issues/situations.


 


Job Related Requirements



  • This position requires the incumbent to have and maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing. This means there can be no cancellations, suspensions, or revocations for a minimum of three years prior to employment and for the duration of employment.  There can be no more than three chargeable crashes or any violation of Chapter 316, Florida Statutes, during any consecutive three-year period prior to and throughout employment.

  • This position requires occasional overnight travel.

  • FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month.  All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
