YOUR ROLE AT A GLANCE
As a Practice Specialist, you’ll play a vital role in supporting children, youth, and families. You’ll assess needs, create case plans, and coordinate family support services with a focus on preservation and protection, helping children stay safely with their families whenever possible.
In this role, you’ll collaborate with families, service teams, and community partners to design and implement plans that promote permanency and positive outcomes. You’ll also provide expert consulting, training, and guidance on complex cases, and contribute to innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of children, families, and communities.

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Assessment & Case Planning
- Assess, evaluate and support families s to identify risks, needs, and strengths, then create case plans that promote stability and respect cultural values.
- Provide crisis intervention, mediation, and conflict resolution, and coordinate case conferences and family meetings to achieve positive outcomes.
- Connect families to community resources, track progress, and adjust plans to ensure the well-being of children and families.
Case Management & Coordination
- Manage an active caseload, work closely with families to implement and monitor case plans, and advocate for children and families to ensure access to essential services and supports.
- Collaborate with internal teams for guidance and transitions, track progress, adjust plans as needed, and prepare accurate reports and documentation.
Community Collaboration and Administration
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with community partners and service providers to enhance support for families.
- Support and lead initiatives that prevent child intervention, strengthen family resilience, and ensure adherence to policies, cultural protocols, and legislation.
- Provide consultation and training, participate in professional development, and contribute to program planning, evaluation, and service improvement.
- Ensure accountability by maintaining accurate case files and documentation, and assist with CKAM Program reporting, data collection, and analysis.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE
- 5 years or more experience in Social Work
- A Social Work diploma or degree from an accredited program with the Alberta College of Social Work (ACSW) or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of the Mihtatakaw Sîpiy Awasak Wiyasiwêwin – Driftpile River Children’s Law
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and clean drivers abstract;
- Police Information Check (Vulnerable Sector), Intervention Record Check, and Drivers Abstract will be required upon interview.
