ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Must be courteous to patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers, and other employees of the organization.
- Greets patients and visitors.
- Excellent telephone skills
- Acts as a liaison for MD offices/receives all appointment calls.
- Receives telephone and in-person referrals for therapy services; records necessary demographic information.
- Interview and register outpatients via computer.
- Responsible for checking the validity of the physician’s order/requisition for medical Necessity, and proper physician signature.
- Obtains prior approvals and pre-certifications from third party payers for therapy services; documents approval numbers.
- Confirms initial appointments.
- Prints and distributes all daily schedules to various locations and departments.
- Knowledge of scheduling dictionaries
- Accurately verifies various insurance authorization/referral requirements.
- Regularly updates knowledge of third party payer regulations.
- Assists therapy staff with monthly re-certification of services; updates staff on changes in third party payer procedures.
- Assembles, maintains management and analysis of patient charts.
- Schedules multiple facilities, procedures, services and technical resource staff.
- Assists with departmental statistics and quality assurance, program evaluation, and environmental and infection control activities
- Attends meetings as required.
- Prepares reports and correspondence for various state and federal regulatory agencies.
- Understands and uses correct procedures for all age groups of patients to include geriatric as well as pediatric.
- Orders supplies
- Provides clerical and telephone support for the department.
- Must wear facility provided identification badge.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School Education or General Education (GED).
- Successful completion of an accredited Medical Terminology Course with a grade C or better or successfully pass a hospital generated test with a score of 80% or better.
- Must be able to read and write English.
- At least 2 years experience in a medical setting.
- Must be able to type 30 words per minute.

Pay Range Details
The pay range displayed on each job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education. This is not inclusive of the value of Cape Cod Healthcare’s benefits package (if applicable), which includes among other benefits, healthcare/dental/vision and retirement. For annual salaries this is based on full-time employment.
