Hillspire, LLC is an integrated family office management company serving the business and  philanthropic activities of Eric and Wendy Schmidt and their family and supporting more than 400  employees worldwide. Hillspire provides legal, finance, accounting, facilities and real estate,  human resources, and information technology services for the Schmidt Entities, which include The  Schmidt Family Foundation (TSFF), Schmidt Ocean Institute (SOI), 11th Hour Racing, ReMain  Nantucket, and more.  

The Senior Accountant will be primarily supporting the accounting operations and financial  reporting process of the Company’s nonprofit divisions. The position is responsible to manage the  financial and management reporting process, to assist with creating and monitoring budgets and  process payroll.

The Senior Accountant will be primarily supporting the accounting operations and financial  reporting process of the Company’s nonprofit divisions. The position is responsible to manage the  financial and management reporting process, to assist with creating and monitoring budgets and  process payroll. 


Key Responsibilities:
  • Process vendor invoices  
  • Prepare journal entries, analyses, account reconciliations and assists in monthly balance  sheet reconciliations 
  • Perform financial analyses, variance analysis, and support budgeting/forecasting. 
  • Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts 
  • Assists with annual audit, tax returns and other compliance tasks 
  • Process payroll 
  • Observe, suggest and execute new accounting policies or procedures, as necessary 
  • Evaluate current processes and suggest improvements 
  • Performs backup duties when other accounting staff are out of the office 
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives assigned by management 
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; non-profit experience strongly preferred  
  • Strong month end close w/ depth in accounting operations - GL, bank reconciliation, balance  sheet reconciliations
  • Proficiency in NetSuite accounting software, advanced knowledge of Excel, familiarity with Concur 
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and experience with complex accounting areas. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail. 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders. 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and managing multiple priorities. 
  •
