Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Prepare treatment room to client specifications while also adhering to Blue Sky / Forbes service standards.
  • Greet guests warmly and escort guests to and from treatment rooms and attend to any immediate needs throughout the Spa visit. 
  • Perform prep work and properly clean and restock the room as required and needed it.
  • Assist in providing information to any inquiries, helps to coordinate all guest requests for services.
  • Ensure guest comfort and safety throughout the treatment.  
  • Maintain professional ethics while ensuring personalized service is provided to each guest so they feel their needs are met.  
  • Maintain the work area with necessary supplies. Ensure the room is immaculate at all times (tables draped, counters and products clean) as well as cleanliness of all other spa areas that need attention.
  • Assist fellow associates with daily operations to support healthy teamwork and contribute to the success of the spa.
  • Assist fellow associates with coverage of shifts in order to promote teamwork.
  • Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the spa’s policies and procedures. 
  • Communicate to management any and all occurrences involving staff or guests in the spa including guest complaints or misconduct.
  • Actively promote the spa amenities, treatments, services, sessions, and retail, as well as programs available.
  • Follow service protocols and procedures according to Edge Spa protocol manual binder and Forbes standards.
  • Regularly attend scheduled meetings, participate in and support training and staff meetings for the spa. Keeping personal certifications up to date without Management prompting.
  • Check slack channel for schedule postings nightly and respond/emoji indicating you are aware of the schedule. 
  • Maintain contact throughout the scheduled workday for changes in schedule or appointments that have been booked last minute.
  • Arrive on time for scheduled shifts, communicate if you are leaving for the day, as well as if you are leaving the spa building. 3 late arrivals result in an automatic write up.
  • On Call for at least 1-2 shifts per week, including at least 1 weekend shift.
  • Available to work holidays, weekends and evenings as needed.
  • Maintain helpful, cooperative relations with co-workers.
  • Adhere to The Lodge at Blue Sky associate handbook guidelines.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining standard of excellence in professional image and services.
  • Use of products within guidelines set in policy/procedure manual.
  • Proper use of all spa facilities and equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge of the menu of services and products.
  • Keep associate areas neat and clean.

  • Ability to ensure that visitors to the hotel are delighted by the quality, creativity and variety of our Spa services, and that The Edge Spa is regarded as a strong point of differentiation for the hotel in its local market.
  • Ability to maintain calm during busy periods and treat our guests and our colleagues with respect, and work hard together to deliver the highest quality of service to all. 
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with minimum of supervision. 
  • Professional, polished treatments, etiquette, and protocol skills and knowledge.

 

Required:

 

  • Utah State Massage Therapy License
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, understanding of the relationship between the structure and function of the human body, understanding of the theory, contraindications and benefits of massage therapy.
  • Ability to provide all spa treatments as outlined in the protocol manual.
  • Ability to work in an environment infused with a variety of scents, such as aromatherapy

 ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

 

  • Ability to make guests as physically and emotionally comfortable as possible while providing services.
  • Ability to properly per Utah Law drape guests, exposing only the body part being worked on.
  • Ability to learn, remember, provide and adhere to all massage and spa treatment protocols and their details as outlined in the manual.
  • Maintain a well-rounded knowledge of human physiology, being able to identify a wide range of symptoms and disorders.
  • Ability to assist the guest in selecting services to best aid the guest in alleviating problems or attaining their goals while at the spa.
  • Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate in English, both orally and in writing, using correct spelling and grammar, with guests, co-workers and management to their understanding, both in person and by telephone.
  • Ability to provide legible written communication.
  • Ability to input and access data in a computer.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration, think clearly and follow up.
  • Ability to focus attention on details.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all guests and resort information.
  • Ability to work cohesively with other departments and co-workers as part of a team.

  • Excellent communication skills.

Desirable

  • Experience in a luxury environment
  • One to two years of experience in massage therapy
  • Working Conditions: Most tasks are performed indoors. Temperature can reach high levels for comfort, but it is usually moderate.  Noise level is moderate. 

Physical Demands: Frequent or occasional need to perform the following physical activities: reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and climbing. Frequent need to perform standing and walking activities. 

  • Constant need to perform the following physical activities: grasping, turning, finger dexterity.
  • Occasionally the need to stand for long periods of time.        
  • Lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs. frequently.
  • Vision requirements: constant need to view small print. Frequent need to see small details and things clearly beyond arms’ reach.
  • Hearing requirements: constant need to speak with guests, respond to the general public and converse with staff. Ability to hear fire alarms and emergency equipment.
