Job Summary: 

 

The Director of Business Development Microbial Services is responsible for driving business development and enabling sales of WuXi Biologics’ microbial/mRNA/LNP CMC development and manufacturing platforms/services in the North American markets. This role involves identifying and establishing partnerships with biotech and pharmaceutical enterprises to drive revenue growth. The Director will collaborate with BU as well as business development leadership to formulate and execute regional sales strategies, providing insights into service optimization based on market trends and competitor dynamics. Additionally, the Director will build close partnerships with relevant biotech and biopharmaceutical companies and assist the management team in formulating annual business plans and objectives based on industry status and development trends.

 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Business development with new biotech and pharma companies, to drive microbial/mRNA/LNP CMC services growth in North America.
  • Build and expand new client network and business opportunities.
  • Achieve regional sales targets for the microbial/mRNA/LNP CMC development and manufacturing platforms/services.
  • Work closely with the BU and BD leadership, and CMC/SME teams, to develop the right strategies and tactics to meet the sales targets for the region.
  • Stay current on competitors and competitive strategies, and provide input needed for the development of future service offerings.
  • Plan and perform the selling, proposal and contract negotiation process independently.
  • Represent WuXi Biologics at local and regional biotech conferences.
  • Manage all business aspects of the customer relationship.
  • Deliver exemplary customer service.
  • Timely update of Salesforce.com and monitor KPIs.

 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree. MBA or PhD preferred but not required.
  • 5-10 years of life science industry experience including 3 years of successful sales and territory management experience within the microbial CMC services CDMO space.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to visit clients, internal sites, and internationally as needed.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong gravitas and relationship building skills.
  • Listening and empathy demonstrated.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure.
  • Demonstrated success at managing multiple opportunities and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and to exhibit effective interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement sales strategies and tactics.
  • Must be organized and detailed-oriented.

 

 

Anticipated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $220,000
