Project Manager - Department of Technology Innovation (DTI)

GENERAL PURPOSE
The DTI project manager will assist in a wide range of project management in support of technology-based initiatives with Chesapeake Public Schools (CPS). The focus will be on large-scale scoped initiatives that are internal to DTI as well as collaboration and consultancy with other departments at CPS. This position will be responsible for organizing and managing DTI project pipeline and planning IT systems implementations by collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure project scopes and timelines are maintained.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Lead all meetings related to IT projects and maintain tasks and project milestones in DTI project management platform;
Produce and maintain project plans and provide verbal and/or written project updates when necessary;
Manage internal (employees) and external (vendors) stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle;
Regularly assess vendor performance against SLAs or other operational metrics;
Collaborate with division leadership and stakeholders to establish priorities;
Communicates and follows up with project stakeholders about specific goals, and deliverables;
Capture feedback and document project progress and changes;
Monitor and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and optimize existing systems and processes;
Inform stakeholders of resource needs and facilitate approval of resource allocation by providing analysis and estimates;
Maintain an elevated level of professionalism with internal and external stakeholders/clients, and colleagues;
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues; and
Gather, collate and classify data as it pertains to DTI projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s Preferred) and/or equivalent education and experience.
2-4 years of experience in project management
Expertise in enterprise technology systems
Working knowledge of ISTM
Direct experience in program lifecycle management
PMP Certification or comparable experience
