Description:
Effective immediately the Child Nutrition Office will accept applications for the above Cashier/Kitchen Assistant position. This position is on duty all student contact days and school locations may vary frequently. The salary range for this position is $18.48 – $21.19/hr. when working at an elementary or parochial school and $18.68 – $21.39/hr. when working at a middle or hight school, based on the 2024-2025 salary schedule between ISD #197 and SEIU Local #284.

Location: All schools providing meal service in District 197

Hours:  Start Time Range: 7:00/7:45 AM; End Time Range: 1:30/2:15 PM  (6 hours per day w/ 30 minute unpaid break)

Job Summary:

• Assist in forecasting daily meal needs and communicates accordingly with person in charge.
• Assist with preparing and serving meals for students, staff and special functions.
• Effectively operates the Point of Sale System, handles money, and prepares bank deposits.
• Ensures that each reimbursable meal sold meets USDA requirements.
• Performs a variety of kitchen cleaning duties.
• Assist with setting up serving lines and serves meals according to meal patterns.
• Projects a positive & professional image of themselves, their school and the Child Nutrition Dept. to all customers, staff and parents.  

• High School Degree or equivalent
