Job Description
 

Palmer Candy is hiring a 1st shift Quality Assurance Technician at our Hwy 75 location. 

Hours- 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM Monday through Thursday with frequent overtime on Friday's and Saturday's. 

Job Summary:

Monitor company Food Safety and Quality requirements. Maintaining and promoting a positive Food Safety Culture.       

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for gathering product sampling and accurately packing, labeling, and shipping the product samples to outside laboratory.
  • Conduct necessary quality inspections using proper equipment and techniques.
  • Swabbing of equipment and environment as required or designated by plant procedures.
  • Ensures accuracy and compliance of paperwork and provides timely communication to appropriate personnel when compliance is not met.
  • Assist in FSQ internal GMP audits.
  • Maintain record retention of FSQ documentation.
  • Monitor production processing via random FSQ audits.
  • Timely sign offs in Redzone as required for your position. 
  • Ensures plant procedures are followed and provides timely communication to appropriate personnel when compliance is not met.
  • Assist with problem solving using root cause analysis and taking corrective action(s)
  • Communicate plant production performance issues relating to FSQ-to-FSQ Manager and take immediate corrective action.
  • Timely and accurate data entry into computer spreadsheets/databases, great attention to detail.
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook 
  • Regular and timely attendance is required
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all functions within the plant and the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with individuals at all levels
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisors and/or management

 

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Basic math and computer skills required.
  • Ability to speak clearly and effectively; writ legibly; 
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data from a wide variety of sources and take appropriate action.
  • Accuracy with strong attention to detail.
  • General knowledge of sanitation guidelines.
  • Ability to work alone or with little supervision.
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, including Saturday.
  • This role requires the ability to verbally communicate proficiently in English to effectively engage with internal teams. Applicant must be proficient in reading and understanding English-language manuals, equipment, instructions, and other documents relevant to the role.

 

Education and experience:

  • Prior experience in a Quality Tech position preferred
  • Must be able to obtain HACCP Certification within 6 months of taking position. 
  • SAP experience preferred


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 35lbs.
  • This position requires frequent walking, standing, twisting, reaching, bending, climbing and lifting.
