Description
The Legislative Research Commission is accepting applications for the position of Fiscal Analyst in the Office
of Budget Review. This position is nonpartisan and requires the ability to work with neutrality in a
politically charged environment.
The Legislative Research Commission provides staff support to the Kentucky General Assembly. The agency offers

This is a permanent, full-time position with benefits including health and life insurance; retirement plan;
and paid holidays, vacation, and sick days. Compensatory time is awarded on an hour-for-hour basis with prior
approval.
Develop an expert level of knowledge in the assigned subject matter area, provide detailed analysis of the
budget and fiscal activities of the subject matter area, and staff budget subcommittees as required by
assignment areas.
Job Duties:

Develop a detailed understanding of functional, fiscal structure, and budgeting issues specific to the area,
as well as the interaction between divisions of the subject matter area and other agencies or branches of
state government. - Analyze biennial budget requests from agencies and update legislators on important budgetary issues.
- Assist in the review of the budget bills in their entirety for accuracy and presentation.
- Use LRC budget software to prepare budget bills and documents for assigned subject matter area and take
direct responsibility for accuracy of the assigned portions of the budget bills. - Provide analysis to legislators as requested; analyze legislation; prepare fiscal notes on the impact of
proposed legislation; monitor spending as directed by biennial budget bills; provide assistance to special
groups, committees, and task forces. - Review expenditures and revenues to determine future issues and problems.
- Review appropriation and allotment
modifications and report revisions to interim committees and legislators as necessary. - Staff meetings of the assigned subject matter area as well as edit and approve minutes for meetings.
- Work with other LRC staff on the production of related and applicable LRC publications.
- Coordinate and process documents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

local laws; regulations; and legal precedent. - Research, analyze, and critically review information to prepare succinct written analysis of complex projects
and issues. - Ability to both work independently and to collaborate with others and work effectively in a team environment,
maintaining sensitivity to political nuance and protocol while prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, public policy, or a related/relevant field
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Knowledge base generally acquired from a college degree or equivalent training. Limited relevant experience
may be required.
