SUMMARY:
The Nursing Simulation Coordinator supports the planning, delivery, and evaluation of simulation-based education for healthcare learners. This role manages daily operations of the simulation center, prepares and operates simulation equipment, assists faculty with scenario development, and ensures high-quality learning experiences that reflect current clinical practice. The coordinator serves as the technical expert for manikins, task trainers, and audiovisual systems while also contributing to educational design and learner support.
Position Duties
Master’s Degree in Nursing and demonstrated clinical expertise to function effectively and safely in the designated area of teaching. Must meet accrediting body criteria to teach in Associate Degree and Vocational Nursing Program.
PREFERRED:
Academic and/or healthcare simulation experience.
CERTIFICATION OR LICENSES:
Must have a current unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas.
Minimum Qualifications
The incumbent will:
- Coordinate scheduling, inventory, and logistics for Nursing Simulation Center (NSC)
- Support faculty in developing, revising, and implementing simulation scenarios aligned with learning objectives.
- Prepare supplies/equipment for skills demonstrations;
- Assist students in remedial activities to enhance learning of psychomotor skills;
- Orient faculty to NSC, equipment, and best practice standards for simulation;
- Orient students to NSC;
- Orient and supervise NSC Simulation Assistants and Simulation Tech
- Maintain a calendar for all scheduled activities for use of the equipment or facilities;
- Follow the recommended maintenance schedules dictated by the equipment manufacturers in a proactive manner;
- Set up and maintain an inventory of all equipment and supplies
- Ensure the NSC is kept clean and well ordered;
- Compile and report usage data each semester;
- Cultivate healthy teacher-student relationships;
- Engage students in active learning;
- Supervise and evaluate student performance in simulated environments;
- Demonstrate professional written and oral skills in communications with students;
- Incorporate simulation and teaching best practices;
- Attend conferences, workshops, or programs to enhance professional growth;
- Evidence a willingness to incorporate new concepts and theories to enhance professional growth;
- Demonstrate innovative thinking to problem solve within the simulated setting;
- Demonstrate respect and professionalism with supervisors, colleagues, and students;
- Fosters collegiality within the department/division;
- Evidence timely completion of administrative aspects of instructional responsibilities;

- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to guide users, explain technical concepts, and interact with staff.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Primarily moderate activity is required with frequent standing, walking, and occasional lifting and manipulation of objects 40 pounds or more with assistance.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is normally performed in a classroom or simulation lab environment.
WORK SCHEDULE:
This is an on-site position. Essential duties of the role must be performed in-person, during prescribed work hours.
