We are a values‑led, inclusive workplace where diverse talent is supported to make a real difference.

About the Team:

The Data Insights Team sits within Business Intelligence in the Chief Financial Officer’s portfolio and plays a critical role in enabling evidence‑based decision‑making across the University. The team works closely with BI Solutions, Performance Business Partners, Digital Campus Services, system owners, and subject‑matter experts to deliver trusted, high‑quality analytical insights.
Together, the team supports senior executives and governance bodies through institutional research, forecasting, predictive analytics, data visualisation, and executive‑level reporting. The work is varied, complex, and highly visible, spanning performance, financial, student, market, and regulatory reporting domains. Collaboration, analytical rigour, curiosity, and a commitment to continuous improvement define how the team works and why it has a strong reputation across the University.

About the Role:

As Senior Data Insights Analyst, you will provide senior‑level analytical leadership and trusted advice to inform strategic, operational, and governance decision‑making. You will own the end‑to‑end analytical lifecycle, from data sourcing and validation through to interpretation, visualisation, and executive‑ready reporting, ensuring outputs are accurate, insightful, and aligned with governance and quality standards.
This role offers the opportunity to work on high‑impact, complex analytical challenges, influence senior leaders, and contribute to the ongoing uplift of Victoria University’s data and analytics capability. It is well suited to an experienced analytical professional who enjoys translating complexity into clarity and operating with a high degree of independence and judgement.

Position Key Duties

  • Maintain end‑to‑end accountability for the analytical lifecycle, including data validation, analysis, reporting, and quality assurance.
  • Translate multi‑source and complex data into clear, decision‑ready insights that highlight trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Design and deliver high‑quality analytical products such as dashboards, reports, forecasts, models, and presentations.
  • Provide expert explanation of assumptions, methodology, limitations, and data quality to support informed decision‑making.
  • Apply and uphold strong data governance, privacy, security, and analytical quality assurance standards.
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of analytical standards, documentation, and controls.
  • Respond to complex and high‑priority ad hoc analytical requests, appropriately scoping and prioritising work.
  • Plan and manage analytical programs of work across competing priorities and timeframes.
