Job Description

JOB SUMMARY 

As a Co-op, you will be part of the team from day one and given training and tasks that are important and impactful to our projects' success. You will gain an understanding of the importance of TAB in the construction industry and energy efficiency of building systems.  

Success in this role depends on the Co-op’s initiative and teamwork skills. A successful Co-op will gain practical experience in estimating project costs, creating budgets, and applying key industry standards such as ASHRAE and NEBB. 

McKenney's has a long history of success in hiring Co-ops and supporting their evolution into industry leaders. Many of our current senior leaders began their journey in the Co-op program. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Assist TAB project management with estimates, RFIs, and project quotes and proposals. 

  • Assist in the creation of project documentation—including reports and test forms. 

  • Develop or revise CAD drawings and schematics to support accurate field execution. 

  • Analyze field data for performance verification. 

  • Properly maintain opportunities in Salesforce.   

  • Communicate directly with customers to ensure proposals are received on time.   

  • Read and interpret project mechanical drawings, specifications, and equipment performance data to determine proper balancing techniques and project management approaches.   

  • Participate in regular jobsite visits and ensure feedback is provided to team members and supervisors. 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 

Education and Experience 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Students must be enrolled in a Co-op program at an accredited engineering school majoring in Construction Management, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related major.  

  • Candidates must be able to complete at least three full-time Co-op rotations prior to graduation. 

  • Must have basic PC experience in Windows environments, working knowledge of Word, Excel, Web-enabled applications, and database software 

  • 1st Rotation: Fall 2026 

  • 2nd Rotation: Summer 2027 

  • 3rd Rotation: Spring 2028   

  • Ability to use time productively. 

  • Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently as well as within a team.  

  • Maintain a strong attention to detail.  

  • Effective verbal and written communication across multidisciplinary teams (e.g., Project Managers, field staff, drafting). 

  • Strong reasoning, math, science, and technical skills. 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORTS 

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office environment.  

  • No or limited exposure to physical risk; occasional jobsite visits may require climbing permanent and temporary stairs/ladders, passenger use of hoists, and navigating active construction areas. 

  • Light physical effort handling average weight objects up to 50 pounds may be required occasionally.
