Job Description

Shift Lead (2nd or 3rd Shift)

Chastain & Associates LLC Location: Chicago, IL 60620

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour

Job Type: Full-time, In-person

The Job

We run a facility that turns food waste into energy. It is a busy, industrial environment. Because we deal with food waste, the work can be dirty and it definitely has an odor. We are looking for an experienced Shift Lead for our evening and overnight shifts.

You will be responsible for running the floor and managing a crew of 6–10 people. You won’t be sitting in an office; you’ll be out with the team making sure the machines are running, the waste is being processed correctly, and everyone is working safely.

What You’ll Actually Do

  • Manage the Crew: You’ll give the team their directions for the night and make sure they stay on task.
  • Give Feedback: If someone isn't following safety rules or doing the job right, you’ll pull them aside and correct them. You’ll have management’s support for tough conversations, but you are the first line of accountability on your shift.
  • Daily Check-ins: You’ll meet with management at the start and end of your shift to report what got done and what problems came up.
  • Hands-on Work: You’ll be on the floor helping out. You need to be comfortable getting your hands dirty and being on your feet all day.
  • Basic Tech: You need to be able to read and send emails and enter simple numbers into a computer to track what was processed during your shift.

What We’re Looking For

  • 2–3 years of experience leading a crew (in a warehouse, construction site, or similar environment).
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Reliability: You are someone who shows up on time and does what you say you’re going to do. This is especially important for the late shifts.
  • Communication: You are good at talking to people and giving clear instructions.
  • Physical Ability: Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work in a loud, industrial setting.
  • Equipment: Experience driving a forklift is required. OSHA training is a big plus.

Shift Times

  • 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
  • 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Please specify your preference when applying)

Benefits

  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • Steady, full-time work in a growing local industry.
