Job Description
Overview

The College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking Graduate Research Assistants (GRA) to support faculty across lab and activity-based courses. Research Assistants provide instructional support/lab support to Pathobiology faculty members. Specific duties and lab experiences can vary by specific service (Bacteriology & Mycology, Clinical Pathology, Comparative Pathology Core, Flow Cytometry, Hemostasis & Platelets, Histopathology, Parasitology, Serology-Virology).

 

Primary responsibility of a Graduate Research Assistant is to engage in original, professional-level research under a faculty member’s supervision in the course of obtaining a graduate degree.


Responsibilities

  • The student is responsible for reporting all the laboratory data and findings to the advisor, present data in the weekly lab meeting, attend conferences to present the research results when available.
  • Research Assistants are expected to conceive and pursue research projects, design experiments, prepare drafts of manuscripts, and efficiently maintain research ethics.
  • In this role, the GRA will be responsible for the day-to-day routine, laboratory research issues, and should report to the advisor regularly, finish all the graduate coursework and preliminary exam requirements within two years from the date of joining.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in the Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program at Auburn University.
  • Registered for at least one course (anything carrying an Auburn University course number) during each academic term of the assistantship.
  • Satisfy the minimum course load specifications of the individual departments and be making satisfactory progress toward the degree.
