Position Summary

The Pathology Processor is responsible for pick up and collection, accessioning and processing all tissue specimens, PAP smears, ThinPREP, and non-gyn cytology. Responsibilities include providing assistance to the professional staff (pathologists) during gross dictation, doing frozen sections (rapid diagnoses) while patients are in the operating rooms, and providing assistance to the histotechnicians as necessary. This position works under direct supervision. Work situations are generally routine but require concentration, close attention to detail, a high degree of accuracy, ability to work under a stressful timeline, and ability to communicate information properly to physician offices, surgeons and pathologists. Internal contacts are primarily operating room staff, surgeons, pathologists and laboratory staff. External contacts may include physicians and physician offices.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Pathology/Laboratory experience highly preferred

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $22.87 - $34.78 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
