The Opportunity:
Reporting to the Logistics Supervisor, the Shipper is responsible for the accurate staging of shipments as per customer requirements, preparing shipping documentation, loading and unloading trucks, etc.
This position requires picking orders, use of a scan gun, and assistance in keeping the finished goods area organized and clean, and forklift driving in a fast-paced environment.
The Shipper will prepare and palletize shipments according to customer requirements, maintain and prepare customer supplied packaging, and track the receipt of customer packaging and the use of expendables to meet customer demands.
The Shipper is a key player in keeping our Logistics Department running, and ensuring we are able to meet customer requirements in a fast-paced, “just-in-time” environment.
Organizational skills, as well as cooperation with other Logistics and Production Teams are necessary for this position. You must be able to work overtime and occasional holidays as required and have an excellent attendance record. You will need to be able to move shift to shift from time to time (Example: for training purposes or coverage purposes)
The successful candidate will be required to perform the following responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Ensure the safe operation of lift trucks in the shipping/receiving area
- Pick product for shipments in FIFO order
- Ensure staged shipments exactly match paperwork and meet customer requirements
- Ensure loaded shipments exactly match paperwork and meet customer requirements
- Ensure all finished goods are handled, moved and stored in such a way as to prevent product damage or deterioration
- Ensure all shortages noted while staging shipments and all shipping discrepancies are communicated to the Shipping Co-ordinator and Supervisor
- You will be required to operate a forklift.
Qualifications and Skills
- Forklift experience is required
- Shipping and/or Receiving experience
- Excellent attendance
- Self-motivation, and the ability to work independently
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
Job Details:
Wage: $24.08 - $26.54 per hour + night shift premium of $0.75/hour shift
Employment Type: Full-time
Work Location 100 Washburn Drive, Kitchener, Ontario (on-site)
Hours of Work: 11 pm – 7 am, Sunday night to Thursday Night
