Get to Know Your Team: 

  • Seton Medical Center Harker Heights is an 83-bed acute care hospital offering services such as Cardiology, Emergency Services and a Level IV Trauma Designated ER, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Total Joint Replacement, Gastroenterology, Diagnostic Services and more.


Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for performance of all diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular examinations.
  • Explains cardiovascular procedure to the patient and / or family member in a thorough and professional manner.
  • Obtains patient’s history prior to cardiovascular procedure.
  • Performs imaging and table side assistance for diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. Does not energize or exposes patient to radiation unless credentialed by Texas Department of State Health Services.
  • Operates hemodynamics system, entering patient’s demographics, and monitoring, recording, mapping and documenting patient information prior, during and after procedure.
  • Adheres to appropriate radiation safety, practicing the concept of As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA).
  • Serves as patient advocate and ensures patient autonomy.
  • Enters and retrieves patient information from the Cardiology Picture Archiving Communication System (CPACS) and from the Hospital Information System (HIS) in a proficient manner.
  • Provides minimal nursing care to patient, ascertaining the patient is comfortable in the department. Establishes IV access. Seeks additional nursing or physician assistance when necessary.


Qualifications:

Job Requirements:

  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and licensed by the Texas Medical Board as a General Medical Radiologic Technologist (GMRT); OR Registered as a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) and licensed by the Texas Medical Board as a Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist (LMRT).
  • Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology or an accredited school of cardiovascular technology.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Ability to operate medical equipment, including diagnostic x-ray equipment, contrast power injector, CPACS, hemodynamic equipment, and electrophysiology equipment.
  • Previous employment as a cardiovascular technologist.
