Job Description

Summary:

Under the direction of the Communications Director, performs various tasks and completes projects with the Sandy communications team and City departments to develop and deliver clear and engaging messaging. Utilize a variety of traditional and digital communication channels such as social media, traditional media, and other marketing and publicity materials.

CLOSING DATE: Open until filled. Department will begin reviewing applications on 04/27/2026. Position may close at any time after this date. However, applications will continue to be accepted until position is filled.

 

STARTING SALARY: $58,000-$78,000/annually, depending on qualifications

DEPARTMENT: Administration/Communications

 

Prefer applicants with the following:

·         Journalism or media relations experience

·         Understanding of Utah current affairs

·         Understanding of municipal government

·         Public speaking skills

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field preferred. Three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong writing, graphic design, and social media skills. Basic understanding of municipal government and public sector communication. Knowledge of public/media relations and content development for digital and print platforms. Familiarity with digital communication tools, content management systems, web editing, and social media platforms. Proficiency in word processing, desktop publishing, and graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or equivalent). Serve as back up Public Information Officer with the ability to communicate professionally, exercise sound judgment, and handle sensitive information. Ability to create clear, user-focused digital content with an understanding of marketing, audience targeting, and multi-channel campaigns. Valid Utah Driver’s License required. One-year probationary period required.
