Job Description

Hello, Cascades Healthcare manages five nursing homes in Nampa and The Magic Valley. We are searching for a terrific Registered Dietitian to provide training & support on a regional basis.

In this role you will regularly visit our Idaho nursing homes in Buhl, Burley, Kimberly, Nampa, and Shoshone, to educate & train the on-site Dietary Managers and members of the Interdisciplinary Team.


Areas of Responsibility:

Train & educate our on-site team members (Dietary Managers & IDT) to:

  • Coordinate all phases of nutrition care and foodservice in skilled care
  • Assess the nutrition status of residents, identify nutrition concerns, develop and implement nutrition plans of care for residents at risk
  • Properly monitor patient diets
  • Provide education and counseling to patients and family members as needed
  • Constantly remain current on regulations impacting food handling
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to identify and connect with patients in need of nutrition counseling
  • Communicate pertinent information to physicians & Interdisciplinary Team members based on information gathered from evals/assessments
  • Update physicians/IDT members as goals of care plans change
  • Conduct written and informal resident surveys concerning menus and meal service
  • Properly document activities and report to management as required

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must be a Registered Dietitian, Idaho licensed
  • Must have significant experience with therapeutic diets
  • Must enjoy working with the elderly, as well as more diverse populations
  • Minimum three years' experience as a Registered Dietitian
  • One year of geriatric/long-term care experience is preferred but not required
  • Must be a great communicator and teacher/trainer
  • Knowledge of the regulations and procedures of Idaho State relating to healthcare and long-term care facilities
  • Some prior kitchen experience working with dietary managers
  • Experience with budgeting and ordering
  • Self-starter with good communication, leadership and administrative skills.
