Job Description:
The Associate Head Volleyball Coach assists the Head Coach in all aspects of the LSU Volleyball program, including student-athlete development, recruiting, scouting, and daily operations. This position plays a key role in on-court instruction, implementation of game strategy, and fostering a high-performance culture. The Associate Head Coach contributes to roster management, including transfer portal evaluation, and supports student-athlete development in alignment with the evolving collegiate athletics landscape, including Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL). This role also supports administrative operations and ensures compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional policies.
80% Assists in all aspects of the Volleyball program, including on-court coaching during practice and competition, individual and position-specific skill development, and match preparation. Contributes to scouting, game planning, and opponent analysis utilizing video and analytics platforms (e.g, DataVolley, Hudl). Collaborates with sport performance, sports medicine, and nutrition staff to support the holistic development and performance of student-athletes. Assists in establishing and maintaining a positive team culture consistent with LSU Athletics’ mission and values.
10% Assists in the identification, evaluation, and recruitment of prospective student-athletes in accordance with NCAA, conference, and institutional rules. Supports all aspects of the recruiting process, including relationship building, official and unofficial visits, and recruiting database management. Evaluates transfer portal prospects and contributes to roster management strategies. Assists in educating and supporting student-athletes in areas related to Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities in coordination with departmental resources.
5% Ensures compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional policies and procedures. Assists with administrative responsibilities, including team travel, scheduling, camps and clinics, and other operational needs. Serves as Head Coach in the absence of the Head Coach. Performs other duties as assigned.
5% Advances and supports LSU and Athletics Department initiatives through personal participation in educational and developmental opportunities, as well as participation in the creation of an respectful culture consistent with the values of LSU and its Athletics Department; Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with six years experience coaching volleyball at the high school, collegiate or professional level; Knowledge and commitment to NCAA rules and regulations.
