Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and Repair: Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems on heavy-duty diesel trucks using advanced diagnostic tools, schematics, and technical manuals (e.g., Cummins Insite, Detroit Diesel Diagnostic Link).
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, brake adjustments, tire inspections, and chassis lubrication to ensure reliability and regulatory compliance.
  • Component Repairs: Repair or replace critical components such as diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, turbochargers, and braking systems.
  • Welding and Fabrication: Perform minor welding, cutting, or fabrication work to repair or modify frames and components as needed.
  • Documentation: Complete accurate service reports, document parts usage, and record maintenance activities for warranty, billing, DOT compliance, and inventory tracking.
  • Customer Interaction: Communicate with drivers and fleet managers regarding repairs, recommendations, and service outcomes.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow OSHA, DOT, manufacturer, and company safety guidelines while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Tool & Equipment Management: Maintain shop tools, diagnostic equipment, and service areas to ensure operational readiness.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma or certification in diesel or heavy-duty truck repair preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 2�5+ years of hands-on heavy-duty diesel truck experience is required
    • Experience with brands such as Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Volvo, Mack, or similar
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and ECM diagnostics
    • Proficiency with diagnostic software and hand/power tools
    • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
    • Effective communication and customer service skills
  • Certifications (Preferred):
    • Manufacturer training (Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Paccar) or ASE Heavy-Duty certifications (T2�T8)
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to lift 50�75 lbs., work under trucks, and perform duties in various shop conditions
  • License:
    • Valid driver�s license required
    • CDL strongly preferred
