POSITION SUMMARY

The Operator 2, CNC  is a skilled manufacturing team member, responsible for operating CNC machines with increased independence and technical capability.  In addition to performing machine operation duties, this role includes machine setup, too changes, offset adjustments, and the production of parts with greater complexity and tighter tolerances.  Reporting to the Supervisor, Production, this position requires a solid understanding of CNC machining processes and a commitment to continuous improvement, safety, and quality.  Team members in this position may also assist in training entry-level operators and serve as a resource for best practices on the production floor.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proficiently perform fundamentals of Operator 1, CNC
  • Perform machine setups including: Fixture installation, Tooling changes, Offset adjustments
  • Run medium-complexity parts with tighter tolerances
  • Interpret part drawings and work instructions
  • Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment
  • Identify and troubleshoot basic machining issues
  • Maintain production efficiency and quality standards
  • Assist Operator 1 team members with training and support
  • Participating in continuous improvement activities
  • Maintain machine tooling and monitor tool war
  • Record production and quality data as required
  • Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate PPE
  • Maintain clean and organized work area
  • Communicate promptly to supervisor of any machine issues or quality concerns

Additional responsibilities and projects may be assigned as relevant to the role.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalency, required.
  • Some technical training or experience in CNC operations, required.

 EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

  • Demonstrated CNC machining experience in similar industry
  • Ability to read technical drawings and blueprints
  • Strong understanding of measuring equipment and inspection techniques
  • Demonstrated quality ownership
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CNC machine controls and offsets
  • Ability to interpret and follow written and oral instructions clearly and accurately.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in how products work.
  • Proven attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teamwork, safety, and professional communication.
  • Ability to maintain positive and respectful interactions with team members, customers, vendors, and carrier personnel.
  • Willingness to work extended hours during peak periods to meet operational demands.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop, twist, kneel, crouch and use hands to handle products and tools. The team member may regularly lift and/or move 50 pounds and occasionally up to 125 pounds (or more with assistance) using proper lifting techniques.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires substantial time working in a manufacturing environment.  Team members may be exposed to varying temperatures and moderate noise levels.  May be occasionally exposed to dust, fumes, or airborne particles.  Working extended and flexible hours may be requested occasionally.
