Job Description

Job Title: Summer Internship-Custodian Assistant                                                     


Location:  RCES


Reports to:  Head Custodian


Salary Schedule: Hourly rate of $13.50/20 hours per week


 


 


 


SUMMARY


Perform all types of cleaning, including floors, walls, windows, blinds, lights, and furniture in all building rooms, offices, meeting areas, and bathroom facilities3. Dust all ledges and shelving Sweep, wet mop, refinish and wax floors as needed5. Refinish and maintain gym floors as directed. Move bulk material such as boxes of supplies, books, etc. Move furniture such as desks, chairs, file cabinets, bookcases, etc. Mow lawns and trim shrubs as needed. Painting of small areas, walls, doors, trim work, etc. Vacuum carpets and entrance mats. Clean all building glass, including classroom windows, doors, and all entrance areas.


   


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS


Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; ability to use logical thinking to define problems and to use common sense in dealing with problems in standard situations.  Must possess good moral character.  Requires the ability to deal with people as a team player and the ability to be adaptable and flexible in dealing with supervisors, colleagues, parents, and students.


 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS


Frequent walking and standing, stooping, climbing, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pulling, pushing, and lifting of equipment and/or materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds may be required. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, noise and hazards.
