The Department of Mechanical and
Manufacturing Engineering invites applications, from qualified individuals, for
three (3) tenure-track positions at the level of Assistant Professor in
Industrial Engineering with special interest in Industry 5.0, including smart
supply chain and logistics, generative AI and machine learning, and data fusion
for predictive maintenance. Two positions are expected to start in July 2026
and one in January 2027, subject to budgetary approval.
The successful candidates will be Expected Start Date: July 2026 (two positions) and
expected to conduct active and innovative research programs and teach at both
the undergraduate and graduate levels. In keeping with a technology‐enhanced learning environment and
platforms, Ontario Tech seeks successful faculty who strive to explore and
develop new pedagogies. The successful candidates are expected to possess a PhD
in Industrial Engineering or a related field with a strong academic background
and an established record of excellence in innovative and experimental research
leading to peer-reviewed publications. The candidates are further expected to
be registered as a Professional Engineer or eligible to register as a
Professional Engineer in Ontario. The successful candidates must also
demonstrate strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions. In
addition, the candidates should possess excellent English language skills
demonstrating an ability to ensure strong, two-way communications on an ongoing
basis that contribute to collaborative/collegial relationships with faculty,
staff, students, and the community at large.
The successful candidates will be expected to follow a 40% Research, 40%
Teaching, and 20% Service workload each year.
The Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (MME) offers Honours
undergraduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and
Industrial Engineering. The Department also offers the corresponding
Engineering and Management degrees for all the programs. In addition, the
Department offers Master’s (MASc and MEng) and PhD programs in Mechanical
Engineering (with various specializations), and a graduate program (MEngM) in
Engineering Management. The Department is committed to excellence and
innovation in interdisciplinary teaching and research, which is relevant to the
needs of society and the local community. The Department promotes these ideals
by emphasizing the integration of knowledge and technology to provide learning
and research opportunities for students.

January 2027 (one position)
This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the UOIT Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty Association collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the collective agreement.
