DESCRIPTION OF THE DISTRICT
Bentley Community Schools is a thriving PreK-12 school district located in the City of Burton, Michigan. We serve approximately 700 students across four schools and approximately 150 students in 6-8th grades, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment for all.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The paraprofessional plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and healthy environment while providing classroom support to students. The position will support classroom teachers with instructional tasks and student supervision of at-risk students. The successful candidate will need to be able to follow behavior interventionist plans.

● Eager to identify and pursue solutions to problems
● Excellent verbal and written skills; strong interpersonal skills
● Basic computer skills (use of email, online calendars, texting, etc.)
● Create a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment that supports the diverse needs of young learners
● Flexible and willing to continually learn and grow professionally
● Perform additional duties as assigned
● Live with intentionality into the ethical code of conduct Michigan Code of Educational Ethics
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience working with children, pre-teens, and teens preferred
- Creative and flexible with a genuine love for working with young children
- Able and willing to seek clarity when unsure of anything
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
WORKDAY/WEEK: 7.25 hours per day, Monday - Friday
(7:15 AM – 2:30 PM, includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch)
STARTING DATE: ASAP

MINIMUM PHYSICAL AND COGNITIVE SKILLS
- Able to communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
- Able to stand, walk, and move around the classroom for extended periods
- Ability to lift and manipulate light objects (books, papers, manipulatives)
- Ability to perform basic computer tasks
- Ability to focus, concentrate, and maintain attention for sustained periods

- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
