Primary Function:
Subcontract Manager is responsible for the full lifecycle management of subcontracted goods and services, from solicitation through closeout. This role ensures subcontractor performance aligns with cost, schedule, technical, and compliance requirements.
The Subcontract Manager serves as the primary interface between the company and its subcontractors, driving accountability, mitigating risk, and supporting program objectives.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end subcontract lifecycle, including solicitation, negotiation, award, administration, and closeout
- Serve as the primary point of contact for subcontractors, maintaining strong supplier relationships
- Evaluate and negotiate cost proposals, terms, and conditions to ensure best value and compliance
- Monitor subcontractor performance against cost, schedule, technical, and quality requirements
- Ensure compliance with prime contract requirements, including FAR/DFARS flow-down clauses
- Identify and mitigate subcontract risks to support program execution
- Collaborate cross-functionally with program management, engineering, finance, and legal teams
- Support proposal efforts, including subcontractor selection, pricing, and technical evaluation
- Oversee subcontract modifications, change management, and issue resolution
- Lead subcontract closeout activities, including final cost reconciliation and performance evaluation
Work Conditions:
Employee will be working within an office environment. Employee may be expected to travel on occasion.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in subcontract administration, procurement, or supply chain
- Strong knowledge of FAR/DFARS and government contracting practices
- Proven ability for negotiation, communication, and supplier-relationship skills
- Ability to analyze cost proposals, schedules, and technical data
- Proficiency with ERP and procurement systems
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience in Aerospace, Defense or highly regulated industries
- Experience in supporting proposals, monitoring cost, supplier performance, quality and schedules
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with prime contracts, flow-down clauses and safety standards
- Familiarity contract types, contract closeout activities, including final cost reconciliation and performance evaluations
- Strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills
