Job Description

Director of Talent

Full Time

Salary Range: $100,000.00 To $120,000.00 Annually

One River School is transforming art education. With a rapidly growing network of schools across the country, we are building a company where creativity and community come together. We are looking for a Director of Talent to lead how we attract, develop, and retain exceptional people across our organization. This is not a traditional recruiting role.

You will build a talent engine, one that identifies, attracts, and develops creative, driven individuals who elevate our schools and our culture. You will spend as much time shaping the employee experience as you do bringing in new talent.

You will be a key driver in building a company where people grow, feel recognized, and perform at a high level.

What You’ll Own

Talent Acquisition

  • Build non-traditional recruiting pipelines through: Art schools, colleges, and universities, Artist communities and organizations and Local creative networks and events
  • Develop relationships that create a steady flow of high-quality candidates
  • Partner with leaders in the arts industry to identify and attract talent
  • Design recruiting strategies that prioritize energy, mindset, and behaviors over credentials alone
  • Elevate our employer brand to attract top creative and operational talent

People Development

  • Build and implement frameworks for:
    • Onboarding as a high-impact experience
    • Ongoing employee development and growth paths
    • Leadership development at the school level
  • Partner with leadership to identify high-potential team members and support their growth
  • Ensure every employee feels they are progressing and working towards professional development goals

Culture & Employee Experience

  • Help define and reinforce a high-performance, creative culture
  • Lead initiatives that strengthen engagement, accountability, and connection
  • Design and implement programs that make One River a destination workplace in the arts
  • Continuously gather insights from teams and translate them into action

Employee Recognition & Retention

  • Build a best-in-class recognition program that celebrates employee performance, creativity and Growth 
  • Develop systems that reinforce what “great” looks like across the company
  • Drive retention through meaningful engagement, events and rewards

Who You Are

  • Skilled at reading EQ, behavior, potential, and mindset
  • Experienced in talent acquisition, HR, or people development (multi-unit or service business a plus)
  • A builder who thrives in a fast-growing, evolving company
  • Highly organized, proactive, and execution-driven
  • Experience using the Gallup Strengths Based Assessment is a plus

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $100,000-120,000 annual salary range
