POSITION SUMMARY
The Compounding Supervisor will oversee the kitting, blending, and compounding operations within our facility,ensuring adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs). This role requires a strong focus on employee safety, team development, and continuous improvement while maintaining high product quality standards. The supervisor will be responsible for managing daily operations, training staff, verifying batch records, and collaborating with quality assurance to ensure products are manufactured to the highest standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & DUTIES
Oversee and Manage Kitting and Blending Operations:
- Supervise the preparation, blending, and kitting of raw materials according to manufacturing schedules and customer specifications.
- Ensure that all blending and compounding activities are performed in accordance with SOPs and meet quality standards.
Ensure Compliance with SOPs and cGMPs:
- Manage adherence to SOPs, cGMPs, and company policies to ensure all compounding processes are compliant with industry regulations and internal standards.
- Regularly audit and update procedures as necessary to reflect current practices and industry changes
Oversee Employee Training and Development:
- Ensure all employees are properly trained on SOPs, safety protocols, equipment use, and quality control measures.
- Maintain a continuous training program and foster employee development to build a highly skilled and efficient team.
Verify Batch Records:
- Review and verify batch records for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies in batch records as needed, working closely with the Quality Assurance team.
Adapt SOPs to Support Growth:
- As the company grows, assist in adapting and improving existing SOPs to ensure scalability and efficiency of the compounding process.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to update and develop new procedures as required.
Ensure Safety for Employees:
- Promote a safe work environment by ensuring compliance with safety standards, conducting safety training, and performing regular safety audits.
- Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment.
Manage Teams Efficiently and Effectively:
- Lead, motivate, and manage compounding teams to achieve production goals and maintain high standards of efficiency and quality.
- Ensure that teams are adequately staffed, properly trained, and working collaboratively to meet daily and weekly production targets.
Develop and Lead Teams:
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, empowering team members to contribute ideas for process enhancements and operational efficiencies.
- Provide mentorship and leadership to direct reports, encouraging career growth within the company
Work with Quality Assurance:
- Partner with the Quality Assurance department to ensure that products are produced with the highest standards of quality, meeting specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that all compounding processes result in “Right First Time” manufacturing, reducing rework and minimizing errors.
Run Inventory Control Reports:
- Generate, review, and analyze regular inventory control reports, highlighting any discrepancies or concerns.
- Work with the appropriate teams to address and resolve any issues related to inventory accuracy and control.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field desired, or work experience in lieu of degree.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in compounding, blending, or a similar production role within the nutraceutical or pharmaceutical industry.
- Experience managing teams and driving production performance in a regulated environment.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of cGMP guidelines and SOPs.
- Knowledge of inventory control and batch record verification processes.
- Proficient in using production and inventory management systems.
- Ability to lead teams, conduct training, and foster employee development.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
