Essential Duties and Responsibilities



 



Provide technical support with expertise in food safety, quality, and regulation 



 



Maintain accurate and organized electronic filing systems, consistently available for inspections and/or audits



 



Assist in conducting compliance reviews of internal controls and procedures in all areas of program operations



 



Aid in all state and import/export certifications and licensing 



 



Perform compliance inspections and follow up on nonconformances and corrective actions



 



Ensure compliance with and maintain food safety/quality certifications, registrations, and licensing



 



Maintain compliance with product specifications, labeling, and regulatory standards 



 



Ensure regulatory requirements are met for product safety and quality control and recommend corrective actions, as needed



 



Assist with audits – internal, customer, 3rd party (GFSI, SQF, etc.), and regulatory agencies (FDA, State Food and OSHA) 



 



Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed and being used according to SOPs; collect and review documentation  



 



Verify accuracy and completeness of data provided and entered by other Quality Control employees



 



Work safely, comply, and enforce all company and regulatory safety/environmental policies, practices, and procedures



 



Train and assist in other departments or throughout facility to provide additional coverage or leadership, as needed



 



Maintain regular and predictable on-site attendance



 



Situations may arise that require employees to temporarily or permanently assume responsibility for tasks not specifically outlined in this job description. Employees may be requested to work additional hours and/or accommodate a heavier than normal workload. 



 



Qualifications



 



Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, food science, biology, or related field; or comparable years’ experience, preferred



 



PCQI and/or SQF certification, or willingness to achieve both certifications



 



5+ years of experience in manufacturing/QA Assurance and compliance; preferably food manufacturing



 



2+ years’ experience in food/feed safety, quality assurance, and/or lab environment



 



Advanced written and verbal communication with high level of professionalism  



 



High level of confidentiality, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail



 



Strong sense of initiative and independent problem-solving with the ability to manage time and deadlines with little supervision



 



Ability to understand and operate basic computer systems



 



Experience with developing safety and regulatory plans (i.e. – SOP, HACCP, FSMA, etc.)



 



Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite – Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint



 



Ability to perform safety sensitive position



 



Ability to work in a facility that processes multiple proteins including beef, pork, chicken, turkey, fish, lamb, rabbit, kangaroo, and egg



 



Must be 18 years of age or older for insurance purposes



 



Physical Requirements
