Job Description

Job Title:                Elementary Teachers (Grades Pre-K-4)
Reports to:            Building Principal
Building/School:    To be determined 
Hours:                     In accordance with District scheduled school day
Salary:                    In accordance with CBA

              
SUMMARY

We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Elementary Teachers for anticipated openings in Grades PreK-4 at various locations across the district. The ideal candidates will foster a positive and engaging learning environment, encouraging students to develop their academic and social skills. These positions are essential in shaping the educational experiences of our young learners and promoting a love for learning.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Must possess an active and valid Pennsylvania Elementary certification
  2. Successful submission and approval of all federal, state, and local, and district required documents
  3. Possess strong computer technology skills (strongly preferred) 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Instructs assigned classes.
  2. Plans a program of study and employs a variety of instructional techniques to meet district curriculum goals and objectives; and individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  3. Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
  4. Establishes, maintains, and implements standards of classroom management that support instruction.
  5. Assesses and reports student performance as required.
  6. Identifies students at risk and seek appropriate support and involvement of resource personnel to enhance instruction and student welfare.
  7. Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative directives and regulations.
  8. Communicates and works cooperatively with parents and staff regarding student needs and progress.
  9. Creates an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and  interests of the students.
  10. Arrives at the designated job site according to the established work schedule.
  11. Other duties may be assigned.


OTHER MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:    

  1. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  2. Assumes responsibility for materials, equipment and facilities.
  3. Responds positively to supervision and suggestions for improvement.
  4. Makes lesson plans available for use by a substitute as required by school district procedure.
  5. Works to stay current in subject and/or content area as well as instructional techniques.
  6. Directly supervises the work of classroom paraprofessional.

 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  1. Ability to reach above and below the waist.
  2. Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects.
  3. Some stooping, bending and twisting of the body required.
  4. Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 20 lbs.
  5. Ability to sit, stand, walk or move throughout the building and/or office, often for extended periods of the workday.


SENSORY ABILITY:

  1. Visual acuity.
  2. Auditory acuity.  


WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

  1. Typical office environment.
  2. Subject to inside environmental conditions.


TEMPERAMENT: 

  1. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
  2. Must be able to work in an environment with frequent interruptions.
  3. Able to make appropriate decisions and work under high level of stress.

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. Salary and work year to be established per the collective bargaining agreement.
