Northland Community & Technical College (NCTC) seeks a visionary and student-centered Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Instructor who is enthusiastic about preparing the next generation of skilled HVAC professionals. This full-time, unlimited position is ideal for an educator who is energized by hands-on, applied learning and committed to innovative instruction in a rapidly evolving technical industry.
The ideal candidate will embrace creative approaches to curriculum and instruction, draw strong connections between theory and real-world application, and bring a genuine passion for helping students develop the technical skills, safety awareness, professionalism, and problem-solving abilities needed to succeed in the HVAC workforce.
As a member of a collaborative technical education department and a vibrant college community, the instructor will play a key role in continually evaluating, modernizing, and adapting the HVAC program to meet the needs of an ever-changing industry. This includes ensuring curriculum, equipment, and instructional practices remain aligned with current and emerging technologies, industry standards, and workforce demands, while strengthening and expanding HVAC programming and keeping NCTC responsive to industry trends and employer needs.

Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirement
Diploma or the completion of an apprenticeship in heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration installation and repair.
Occupational Experience Requirement
Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in residential or commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration installation and repair.
Recency Requirement
One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Preferred Qualification
- Previous teaching experience in a community or technical college setting.
- Current, industry-recognized professional development and relevant HVAC credentials.
- Experience developing curriculum, assessments, or educational pathways, particularly innovative, interdisciplinary, or experiential learning programs.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in the HVAC field.
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing equity, inclusion, intercultural competence, and success for diverse learners.
- Experience supporting students both inside and outside the classroom, including engagement with student organizations, advising, or mentoring activities.
- Ability to contribute to program growth, student recruitment, outreach efforts, and continuous program improvement initiatives.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills with the ability to thrive in a creative, team-based academic environment.
