Job Description

Simmonds Precision is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our Monitoring & Actuation business unit engineering team. The Senior Project Engineer leads all phases of program execution and is a key project interface with all areas of business and with the customer.

 

 What You Will Do

  • Drive project execution using integrated scheduling, earned value management, and risk and opportunity management.
  • Work collaboratively with other Engineering disciplines (Systems, Software, Mechanical, and Electrical), Programs, Production, Quality and Supply Chain to develop an integrated execution plan to satisfy customer requirements.
  • Coordinate project tasks with the various functional organizations to ensure alignment with overall project commitments.
  • Track team’s cost and schedule performance to plan, and present to Simmonds leadership and customers.
  • Analyze, identify, and address execution problems; recommend and implement solutions to ensure the successful completion of project(s).
  • Maintain and present plans and progress reports relating to business aspects of the project(s) to track progress and ensure that established targets are met.
  • Develop bids based on customer proposal requests
  • Convert bids into project execution plans (baselined schedule, risk and opportunity matrix, etc.).
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts for project execution efficiency.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires an undergraduate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and prior relevant experience
  • Experienced with MS Office Suite and MS Project
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Experience with other project management tools (RAILs, burndowns, staffing forecasts, critical path analysis, etc.)
  • Experience with risk and opportunity management
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Hands-on experience in aerospace product development, including design and integration of electrical systems
  • Strong process skills and familiarity with Continuous Improvement tools
  • Experience in presenting project performance to leadership and/or customers
  • Familiarity with aerospace and avionics industry standards (MIL-STD-810, DO-160, DO-178)
