SUMMARY
A math interventionist is an educator who provides targeted support to students who are struggling with mathematics, helping them build foundational skills and improve overall performance. The math interventionist works with students individually or in small groups to address gaps in mathematical understanding. They assess student needs, design and implement intervention strategies, and monitor progress to ensure academic growth. This role often involves collaborating with classroom teachers, using data to guide instruction, and adapting teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs. Math interventionists focus on strengthening core math skills, boosting confidence, and helping students meet grade-level expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify students in need of math support through assessments and data analysis
- Develop and deliver targeted intervention lessons
- Monitor and track student progress regularly
- Adjust instruction based on student performance and learning styles
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and support staff
- Maintain records and reports on student outcomes
Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of math concepts and instructional strategies
- Ability to differentiate instruction
- Data analysis and progress monitoring skills
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Teaching certification with a math endorsement (EX)
EVALUATION
Performance will be evaluated annually by the building principal and/or district administration in accordance with district policies.
