About the Role 
The Director of FP&A leads the company’s financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analytical processes to support strategic decision-making. This role partners closely with the CFO and senior leadership to drive financial insights, optimize performance, and strengthen long-term financial planning. This role reports directly to the CFO and is based in Ketjen’s Houston area office (Clear Lake). 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Strategic Financial Planning & Forecasting 

  • Lead the annual budgeting, long-range planning, and rolling forecast processes. 

  • Develop and maintain financial models that support strategic initiatives and business performance evaluation. 

  • Provide clear, data-driven insights to guide executive decision-making. 

Financial Reporting & Analysis 

  • Oversee monthly and quarterly financial reporting, including variance analyses and KPI dashboards. 

  • Translate complex financial data into concise narratives and actionable recommendations for the CFO and leadership team. 

  • Monitor trends in revenue, expenses, and cash flow to identify opportunities and risks. 

Business Partnering & Leadership Support 

  • Serve as the primary financial partner to business leaders across the organization. 

  • Support strategic projects, including investment analyses, scenario modeling, and capital planning. 

  • Present financial updates and strategic recommendations to the CFO and executive leadership. 

Governance, Controls & Performance Management 

  • Ensure financial planning practices align with internal controls, policies, and audit requirements. 

  • Implement standard processes, tools, and governance to improve forecasting accuracy and financial discipline. 

  • Develop and maintain KPIs, dashboards, and reporting frameworks to drive operational and financial performance. 

Team Leadership & Development 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing FP&A team. 

  • Foster a collaborative, business-focused mindset across Finance. 

  • Promote continuous improvement, analytical rigor, and a strong service orientation. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field. 

  • 8–10+ years of progressively responsible experience in FP&A or corporate finance. 

  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills. 

  • Proven ability to partner with executive leadership and influence decision-making. 

  • Demonstrated experience leading budgeting and long-range planning processes. 

  • Effective communicator capable of distilling complex information for senior audiences. 

  • Experience managing and developing teams. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • MBA, CPA, or related advanced degree or certification. 

  • Experience in a multi-site or global business environment. 

  • Prior experience supporting a CFO or serving in a senior FP&A leadership role. 

  • Familiarity with financial systems, BI tools, or advanced analytics platforms.
