Job Description

Summary/Objective

This position is responsible for assisting the Quality Manager/Engineering with new launch APQP process, direct customer contact/relations and adherence to specified quality management system. They will assist other quality department functions as needed. This role will assist manufacturing in providing the highest quality, least cost products for our customers by leading teams to solve complex part problems. Responsible lead with customer issues from initial corrective actions to closure.

About the Role


Essential functions in the role include:


  • Champion investigations for customer concerns by determining best problem solving techniques to develop and implement corrective/preventive action
  • Follow up and monitor corrective actions to keep on schedule to meet customer timelines
  • Validate the effectiveness of the corrective/preventative actions
  • Analyze data to develop actions for continuous improvement and proactive activities
  • Review training needs for problem solving and train team members as needed.
  • Participate as a team member for new job feasibility, contract review, review and approval of new or revised PFMEA and Control Plans
  • Implement and monitor early containment for new launch products
  • Support manufacturing by troubleshooting and resolving production problems as a team leader to minimize machine downtime
  • Conduct proactive customer visits to various facilities
  • Participate as team leader for internal and third party audits
  • Assist other quality team members as needed
  • Perform evaluation of product and product quality data to ensure product compliance
  • Review monthly data to ensure QMS KPI's are being met
  • Review and implement Customer Specific Requirements (CSR's) as needed

Leadership and Management Competencies

  • Able to work effectively on their own (self-starter)
  • Able to parse data to identify weaknesses and generate projects to provide a solution
  • Able to create, and /or communicate corrective action reports, budgets, capital projects, and new processes

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree and 2+ years of relevant work experience or 5+ years of equivalent work experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft office skills
  • Strong data analysis skills

Technical Qualifications

  • IATF experience (Auditor/Lead auditor experience preferred)
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, SPC, APQP
  • Experience in inspection layout, supervising small groups, gage use and calibration
  • Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt preferred
  • Quality Planning knowledge including Control Plan, PFMEA, Flow Diagram and Measurement Devices

Physical demands:

  • Ability to work extended hours as needed

Travel required: <10%
