SUMMARY

Performs laboratory analysis and tests required, under close to moderate supervision, to determine chemical or physical characteristics designated by the client, typically within one area of expertise

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Read and understand all analysis and safety standards required and any other well-defined analytical standards and procedures used in the laboratory.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate laboratory equipment correctly to accurately evaluate characteristics within the applicable testing standards and sound laboratory practice.
  • Cleans and sterilizes laboratory equipment.
  • Prepares chemical solutions according to standard formulas.
  • Calibrates laboratory instruments to applicable standards and sound laboratory practices.
  • Perform analytics and tests, documenting outcomes following using well-defined Company standards and procedures and sound laboratory practices.
  • Exercise procedural, safety and quality requirements specified in Laboratory manuals, Core Laboratories Safety and Environmental Manual, and with any other company policies, procedures, or sound laboratory practices.
  • Maintains appropriate and applicable training and participates in educational initiatives including successfully completing related examinations.
  • Performs and maintains laboratory procedures, equipment calibration, control charting, documentation, and records in full compliance with the Company’s quality assurance and compliance program.
  • Understands, completes and accurately records laboratory information, documentation and related data testing and analysis findings into laboratory systems and data warehousing programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree in Chemistry or a related field.
  • 0 – 2 years' experience as Lab Technician or equivalent.
  • If no university degree equivalent relevant work experience is needed of minimal 2 - 4 years.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Access).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Basic understanding of procedures and concepts within the Chemistry discipline and a basic knowledge of principle elements in other related scientific disciplines. And able to bring the acquired technical knowledge into practice.
  • Basic computer skills in data entry, word processing and spreadsheet.
  • Skill in working in a team environment and maintaining a professional appearance and attitude.
  • Ability to perform and maintain all procedural, laboratory, equipment, charting, materials and all other applicable chemistry related documentation and records in full compliance with Company’s quality assurance programs.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret instructional and technical materials relating to procedures and safety, and applicable government regulations.
  • Ability to write applicable reports and correspondence clearly. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, schedulers, and clients.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and quantities (linear, volumetric, or weight) and to read and interpolate applicable data and tables. 
  • Ability to draw and interpret applicable graphs and control charts.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule formats.
  • Ability to learn applicable software and Company-specific applications.
  • Performs certain marketing functions and conducts client visits as directed.
  • Ability to secure and maintain applicable regulatory and statutory permits, licences and / or credentials as required.
  • Requires the ability to work a non-traditional work hours/days schedule, including overtime.
  • Ability to meet requirements to obtain and maintain a TWIC card.
