Patient Account Specialist - Clinic Support Clerk

Location: Covington County- Collins, MS


Job Summary

The Clinic Support Clerk completes the collections process for the clinics; this role is located in Covington County. This role is responsible for accurate payment posting, batch balancing, financial communication with patients and insurers, and supporting billing operations in accordance with industry standards.

Minimum Qualifications

High School graduate; Experience filing and working insurance claims preferred; Medicare and Medicaid experience preferred; Working knowledge of computers; Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Demonstrate efficient use of electronic health records; Communicate financial information to patients and insurance companies accurately and respectfully; Balance daily TOS payment sheets; Balance patient and insurance ROA sheets; Prepare and balance payment batches Monday through Friday; Complete payment posting accurately and timely; Investigate and report payment discrepancies; Attend billing-related webinars, conferences, and in-services; Assist Finance Department with resolving discrepancies; Accurately document all payment activity; Perform additional duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Primarily seated in a front desk/reception area; May involve occasional lifting of files or office supplies (up to 15 lbs); Frequent interaction with patients, staff, and providers.
