Job Summary:
The Radiology Technologist performs a wide variety of routine and advanced imaging procedures according to established standards and practices. The technologist uses a wide variety of radiographic equipment, computers, and detectors. The technologist operates conventional, fluoroscopic, or portable radiology equipment to obtain clinical diagnostic images as directed by physicians, performs routine diagnostic radiology procedures according to established standards and practices, and positions patients and equipment to obtain correct exposures. The technologist must have the knowledge to make quick and highly technical decisions in order to accommodate physical restrictions and pathology. The technologist may independently perform procedures on adults, geriatric patients, adolescents, and pediatric age groups and performs patient assessment within the scope of practice. The technologist works collaboratively with staff to prioritize and organize schedules and to triage exams. The technologist may service as a clinical instructor for affiliated imaging training programs and assists in training other Imaging Technologists. The technologist may work closely with the Radiology Team Leader and/or Imaging Manager on various projects or administrative duties as necessary for the needs of the department and organization.
Minimum Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited program in radiologic technology.
- ARRT (R) certified.
- If not certified, must be certified in radiography upon first opportunity before working first scheduled shift.
- Indiana State Board licensed or eligible.
- If board eligible, must become licensed upon first opportunity before working first scheduled shift.
- CPR certification.
- Competent in general radiography exams.
- Willing to work additional hours when requested by supervisor; available for callback on scheduled weekends.
- Willing to work one holiday each year.
- Willing to stay current with latest technological advancements in X-ray imaging.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working closely with radiologists to ensure proper imaging protocols are followed and updated.
Demonstrated ability to stay current with the latest technological advancements in radiology and serve as a departmental resource.
Willing to learn CT.
