Sr. Analyst FP & A

The Senior FP&A Analyst will play a critical role in supporting Pogue Construction�s transition to an ESOP structure by driving enhanced financial reporting, planning, and analysis. This position is responsible for leading forecasting, budgeting, and strategic financial modeling to enable data-driven decision-making across the organization. While the primary focus is on FP&A (approximately 70�80%), the role will also provide periodic support to the accounting team during key cycles such as month-end close, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
This hybrid skill set ensures alignment between historical financial reporting and forward-looking analysis, strengthening our ability to manage growth and profitability in the commercial construction sector.
Experience Requirements: 5�8+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, finance, or hybrid finance/accounting roles.
Education Requirements: Bachelor�s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA, CPA, or CMA preferred.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting cycles, partnering with project managers and department leaders to understand cost drivers and performance trends.
- Manage the annual budgeting process, consolidating inputs across operations, estimating, and corporate functions.
- Develop advanced financial models for scenario planning, capital investments, and project profitability analysis.
- Create and deliver executive-level reporting, dashboards, and KPI packages to support strategic initiatives and ESOP compliance.
- Analyze revenue, margins, operating expenses, and cash flow variances; provide actionable recommendations to improve financial performance.
- Build and enhance reporting tools, financial models, and automated processes to increase FP&A efficiency.
- Support long-term planning and strategic roadmap development for growth and ESOP sustainability.
Business Partnering & Strategy
- Serve as a key financial partner to operations, HR, estimating, and senior leadership to understand business activity and performance drivers.
- Translate financial data into insights that improve project profitability and operational efficiency.
- Act as a trusted advisor on financial impact, risks, and opportunities related to construction projects and corporate initiatives.
Accounting Support
- Assist with select month-end close responsibilities, including journal entries, recurring accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Provide ad hoc support for variance analysis and reconciliation of key accounts.
- Collaborate with accounting to ensure alignment between actuals, forecasts, and reporting outputs.
- Support audit requests and provide documentation as needed.
- Help maintain strong internal controls and process consistency.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPECTATIONS:
- Strong financial modeling skills and advanced Excel/Google Sheets proficiency.
- Experience with BI/reporting tools (Adaptive Insights, Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
- Working knowledge of GAAP and core accounting processes.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or construction-specific systems like Viewpoint or CMiC).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
- Highly analytical, detail-oriented, organized, and proactive.
