Peer Specialist

As a Peer Support Specialist, you'll provide recovery-focused services to youth and families in MHMRTC programs, adhering to TAC requirements. Drawing from your personal recovery experience, you'll offer support in recovery planning, mentoring, crisis assistance, and rights advocacy through individual and group settings. Your role involves modeling effective coping techniques, self-help strategies, and efficient use of community resources. You'll develop and lead educational, and support groups tailored to individual needs, working with youth and families in outpatient clinics and community settings. By sharing your expertise and lived experience, you'll foster positive relationships and support recovery and wellness in our community, making a significant impact on the lives of children, youth, and families.   

   

Minimum qualifications: High School Diploma/GED   

Preferences: Prior completion of Peer Specialist orientation, self-assessment, core training and knowledge assessment with passing score; Spanish-speaking.   

Experience: One (1) year in Self-reported active recovery and receipt of community mental health services for a disorder that is treated in the target population for Texas with onset during adolescent years   

License/Certifications: Certification as a Certified Peer Specialist completed upon hire
