Job Description

Summary

Lincoln Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to join our team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for students by promoting their academic, social, and emotional well-being. This position will focus on providing targeted group support, including friendship and social skills development, and assisting with PBIS Tier 3 behavioral needs. The School Counselor will collaborate with educators, families, and the community to ensure all students have the tools and support they need to succeed.


Responsibilities

  • Facilitate small group sessions focused on friendship skills, social development, and emotional regulation.
  • Support PBIS Tier 3 interventions by collaborating with staff to design, implement, and monitor individualized behavior plans.
  • Conduct assessments and gather data to identify student needs and inform intervention strategies.
  • Partner with teachers and staff to promote a positive school climate and proactive behavior supports.
  • Assist in conflict resolution and peer mediation to build a respectful and inclusive school environment.
  • Develop and deliver classroom guidance lessons on topics such as bullying prevention, conflict resolution, and social skills.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records in alignment with school policies and PBIS practices.
  • Collaborate with families to provide strategies and resources that support student growth in social and behavioral skills.
  • Coordinate with community agencies and resources to support students with more intensive needs.
  • Participate in PBIS teams, student support teams, and other school-wide initiatives.
  • Stay current on best practices in school counseling, behavior intervention, and social-emotional learning.


Requirements

  • Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field.
  • Valid state certification or licensure as a school counselor.
  • Strong understanding of child development, behavior intervention, and social-emotional learning.
  • Experience supporting PBIS frameworks, particularly Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, students, and families.
  • Strong organizational and data-tracking skills.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations related to student privacy and support services.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment.
