Job Description

The Fleet Manager will be responsible for the networkwide management of our internal Reddy Ice Fleet – Heavy Duty, Light Duty and Material Handling Equipment.  This leader will be responsible for managing the relationships with our fleet providers as well as the relationships and support of internal operational relationships.

Demonstrates our “True North” attributes: voice of the customer, respect for the individual, no nonsense communication and utilization of facts, servant leadership and has a continuous improvement mindset in every facet of leadership and daily interaction. Leads, collaborates and demonstrates the lean principles and utilizes the lean methodologies and tools to facilitate continuous process improvements and value creation for our customers, employees and shareholders. Actively utilizes lean tools (VSM, Kaizen, A3, etc.) to inform and assess business opportunities to drive continuous improvement. Lead and participate in Kaizen and value stream mapping activities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead, develop, and coach a team of supply chain analysts and coordinators, providing direction, performance feedback, and growth opportunities to ensure high-quality execution across heavy and light duty fleet, material handling equipment and all other fleet related activities. Oversee and develop the organization’s internal fleet – including the HD, LD and MHE Fleets.  Maximize value of current owned assets and reduce service cost by implementation of best-in-class life cycle management program.  Responsible for ensuring proper fleet is in place to support each of the applicable business operations. Develop departmental strategy that is in line with the True North strategic plan. Ensure that the Operational teams have the fleet resources required to perform their required tasks and objectives. Manage and develop the fleet budget, manage the P&L and create plans to address variances in planned vs. actual operating expense. Closely review fleet costs to ensure proper levels of fleet units, location assignments and cost allocations. Continually review fleet sourcing opportunities, both within the current supplier network as well as new vendor opportunities. Own the tracking and planning for fleet assets company-wide; partner with field operations, accounting, and finance, to provide clear reporting on fleet costs Leads, collaborates and demonstrates the lean principles and utilizes the lean methodologies and tools to facilitate continuous process improvements and value creation for our customers, employees and shareholders. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain / business / operations
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in fleet, logistics or supply chain
  • Do you want experience with leading a team? Any experience with fleet technology or tracking?
  • Proven experience and capability to develop KPIs for key processes and ability to drive positive performance
  • Ability to identify business opportunities and quickly formulate solutions for addressing those opportunities 
  • Advanced analytical skills and proficiency with MS Office (specifically in Excel and PowerPoint)
