Summary

The Auto Body Painter prepares metal, plastic, and composite surfaces and applies primer, base, and clear to OEM-level standards. Finished work must meet CollisionRight specifications for color, texture, and durability.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Properly prep surfaces and apply refinish materials to exterior components

  • Mask glass/trim/non-paint areas; clean, sand, and prime as required

  • Spray primer, basecoat, and clearcoat (waterborne or solvent systems)

  • Mix and match paints; verify color and effect prior to application

  • Buff/sand finished panels as needed to meet finish standards

  • Assist with minor body work to prepare vehicles for paint

  • Use appropriate PPE and follow safety/OSHA and hazardous-waste procedures

  • Clean and maintain spray guns, booths, and paint equipment

  • Inspect painted vehicles to ensure finish quality and accuracy

Qualifications

  • 1�3+ years of professional auto refinish experience (MSO/dealership/independent)

  • Strong knowledge of surface prep, masking, priming, and refinish workflows

  • Proven skill with spray guns/equipment and color matching

  • Excellent eyesight and color perception; meticulous attention to detail

  • Demonstrated safety discipline and ability to follow written/verbal instructions

  • Able to lift 35 lbs routinely (occasionally 70+ lbs) and work in a fast-paced, production environment

  • Comfortable with climbing/stooping/kneeling/crouching as tasks require
