Additionally, employees must be willing to lead and/or participate in Bible study, prayer, devotions and sharing the Gospel.

 SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Provide direct counseling and client management services to individuals and groups through a faith-based, trauma-informed approach that addresses addiction, trauma, and emotional or behavioral challenges.  Facilitate process groups and teach assigned classes within the Recovery Program. Services are delivered within a structured, Christ-centered recovery framework designed to promote healing, accountability, and personal growth.

Key Result Area #1: Counseling Services/Client Management

·         Provide individual and group counseling using the Genesis Process, 12-Step Recovery, and Biblical/Mental Health Counseling models.

·         Maintain an assigned caseload of up to 10–12 residents and conducts regular one-on-one meetings based on each resident's phase and individual needs.

·         Each client will have an individualized recovery plan, outlining benchmarks related to addiction recovery, relapse prevention skills, mental, emotional and physical health, behavioral issues, unresolved trauma, and a plan to develop relationships outside of UGM that support recovery.

·         Facilitate therapeutic process groups and teach assigned classes within the Recovery Program, promoting client engagement, accountability, and growth.

·         Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with ethical guidelines, organizational standards, and confidentiality regulations.

·         Attend scheduled counseling and treatment team meetings to review caseloads, discuss client status, process pass requests, and provide updates on client progress.

·         Collaborate with multidisciplinary agencies to coordinate holistic, client-centered care and ensure continuity of support.

·         Facilitate and actively participate in our accountability process.                               

·         Assist in leading community meetings as assigned and actively engage in the self-evaluation process; present at least one personal self-evaluation per tri-semester.

  • Provide support for core components of case management, including assessment, planning, coordination, and follow-up."
  • Monitor and support residents’ financial accountability, assisting in money management practices throughout the program.

·         Personally model and uphold UGM’s Core Values and behavioral indicators in all aspects of work and relationships.

·         Keep Director informed of all critical activities, concerns, and client-related developments in a timely manner.

·         Actively engage in outcome-based management processes, including SWOTS, SMART goals, and one-on-one supervision meetings; provide relevant training to staff or peers as needed.

·        Participate in ongoing professional development and training to remain current in counseling practices, trauma-informed care, and recovery program delivery.

·        Collaborate with team members in planning, supporting, and participating in residential community activities as assigned.

·         Ensure development, appropriate training and supervision of volunteers, teachers, and interns as assigned/needed.

·        Demonstrates healthy, affirming communication with both staff, volunteers and residents on a consistent basis.

·        Actively utilizes Conflict Resolution tools and skills to resolve conflicts effectively.

·         Engage in holding self and others accountable.

·        Completes all assigned duties in a satisfactory and timely manner.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Committed Christian, able and willing to model servant-leadership and interested in being part of a ministry for the poor, homeless, drug addicted and mentally ill. Grounded in the Christian faith as a mature, active member of the body of Christ. In accordance with Union Gospel Mission Statement of Purpose, Statement of Vision and Statement of Faith.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills - exercise compassion and discernment while modeling the teachings of Jesus Christ.
  • As a unified team member, willing to honor the leadership, chain of command, and standards and ministry objectives of Union Gospel Mission.
  • Follows UGM policy regarding addressing and resolving conflict amongst team members, volunteers, & residents.
  • Know and able to communicate and embrace UGM’s cultural Core Values and their indicators.   Core Values are applied and observed.
  • Computer literate (Office 365, Word, Excel, Outlook, UGM specific programs); able to complete documents, reports and accurately record information.  Must be willing to continue education as needed or required.
  • Excellent communication skills including written, verbal and instructional.
  • Must have a teachable spirit and the ability to manage multiple emotional and task related variables, listen, and make sound decisions in alignment with UGM’s purpose.
  • Minimum five years of sobriety, if in recovery.
  • Insightful, trustworthy, honest, reliable, model appropriate boundaries, maintain confidentiality and demonstrate strong work ethic.
  • Valid Washington or Idaho driver’s license – required.
  • CPR/First Aid certification – required.
  • Yearly TB clearance – required.
  • Criminal background check clearance – required.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:

Occasionally = 1%-33%; Frequently = 34%-66%; Continuously = 67%-100%

  • Work is primarily indoors and may require climbing three flights of stairs, sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and going from building to building - Continuously.
  • Requires working with a diverse population, many of whom struggle with homelessness, addiction and mental illness – continuously.
  • Requires a sustained level of high energy, stamina, and the ability to move about the facilities on a regular and ongoing basis – frequently.
  • Requires the ability to hear, see, and speak clearly – continuously.

 EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED:

 EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in counseling or social work, highly preferred.
  • Credentials in mental health, addiction recovery, trauma therapy, or counseling preferred.
  • 2+ years prior experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with chemical dependency, addiction recovery counseling, trauma therapy, and/or Biblical counseling preferred.
