Manufacturing Engineer – Electrical, purpose is to implement Manufacturing Product Introduction activities, including the design of the overall Method of Manufacture and of individual process steps using the Product Quality Planning toolset.
Create and validate Production Technical Packages which can deliver design intent and meeting customer and business requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate & leadtime (SQCD).
Work cross-functionally as part of the extended Integrated Project Team (IPT), planning and co-ordinating Manufacturing Engineering activities to deliver the functional deliverables in line with accepted timescales.
What you will be doing:
- Product Safety - Ensure that manufacturing processes can achieve and sustain the design intent and responsible for mitigating against process deviation.
- Develop Capability - Develop, implement, validate, maintain and continuously improve manufacturing processes, digital systems and/or methods of manufacture which are capable of meeting and continue to meet requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time. Capture, analyse and use data to demonstrate and improve the current and future capability of manufacturing processes.
- Build external relationships - Operate beneficial relationships with partners and suppliers to enable delivery of their objectives.
- Quality - Operate a culture of zero defects within the organisation. Works with all functions to reduce risk and drive product Right First Time. Ensure compliance to all relevant company, legislative and technical policies and standards including RRMS, SABRe and Export Contol and Intellectual Property requirements
Position qualifications:
- A good understanding of quality and Manufacturing Engineering principles, systems, and tools.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
- Experience in a Manufacturing or Manufacturing Engineering related discipline.
- Knowledge of developing new manufacturing and assembly technology
- Experience in New Product Introduction, preferably for an Electrical System or Sub System.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred qualifications:
- Has company-wide outlook and exposure to different challenges, cultures and ways of working
- Understanding/knowledge of multiple disciplines demonstrating breadth of experience. Appreciation of product integrity
- Has a proven track record delivering improved operational performance in both favourable and unfavourable conditions, utilizing cross-functional teams
- Has experience deploying continuous improvement methodologies such as lean and six sigma, ideally with Green Belt accreditation
- Management experience in an engineering industry is ideal, but not essential
To work for Rolls-Royce you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality.
