    Secretary II � Music/Visual Arts Department
    35 hours per week � 195 days per year
     
    Hourly Wage: $30.65 - $32.66*
     
    *Hourly Wage based on 2025-26 as contract is currently being finalized

    JOB DESCRIPTION BELOW
     
    TITLE:                                                  Administrative Assistant II � Music/Visual Arts Department
     
    QUALIFICATIONS:                           

    1) Possesses to a high degree those skills necessary for effective verbal and written communication with all stakeholders in a multi-task, fast-paced environment.
     2) Possesses to a high degree those skills necessary to develop spreadsheets, databases, and word processing documents, including manipulation between programs in a Windows platform.  Ability to create reports utilizing spreadsheets, databases, and word processing documents through use of the Microsoft Office Suite package (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, etc.).
    3) Knowledge of Munis and PowerSchool preferred, but not necessary.
    4) Possesses a comfort level and/or ability to adapt to various computer programs that may be utilized for desktop publishing, system-wide financial system, basic accounting functions, and student information system.
    5) Skills and knowledge required would generally be acquired with an Associate's Degree in Secretarial Science and/or three years of high-level secretarial experience, preferably in the public sector.
     
    REPORTS TO:                                    Director of Music & Performing Arts and Visual Art Department Supervisor
     
    JOB GOAL:                                          To assist with the efficient operation of department offices, to perform duties of a confidential nature for the supervisors, and to ensure a welcoming, friendly atmosphere in the office.
     
    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Provides appropriate clerical/administrative support commensurate with specific position and job qualifications.
    2. Processes oral and written instructions from administration and/or supervisor.
    3. Plans work according to school, office, or standard procedures.
    4. Prepares documents, reports, memoranda, and letters as required.
    5. Prepares, maintains, and updates appropriate files commensurate with the specific position.
    6. Communicates with individuals via phone, e-mail, and in person and directs appropriately.
    7. Works with technology to improve and facilitate the delivery of services.
    8. Adheres to procedures of confidentiality with regard to all students and staff.
    9. Applies strong decision-making skills in conjunction with good judgment.
    10. Displays initiative and independence with regard to specific duties in a multi-task environment.
    11. Demonstrates cooperation and flexibility with all individuals.
    12. Works collaboratively with other office support staff to ensure that office needs are met.
    13. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the administrator or supervisor.
       
      TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:                          Salary and work year according to the negotiated contract between the Simsbury Board of Education and the appropriate bargaining group.
       
      EVALUATION:                                                   Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation of Non-Certificated Personnel.
