We are looking for a Offshore Superintendent to join our office in Milan HQ.
This role involves both Deputy Offshore Manager in the offshore installation sites and partial involvement as Installation Engineer in the office work.
Marine Operation Superintendent in the offshore installation sites
This part of the role covers the operative execution on all marine installation sites activities for the implementation of a Project.
The activity is carried out mainly on installation vessels or more in general, on other marine installation sites, such as landing points, offshore platforms, etc.
Main activities falling under the responsibility of the Superintendent, are including but not limited to:
Preliminary works, such as route clearance, PLGR, pre-lay burial runs, mobilization of vessels
Cable loading and laying
Cable burial with a wide variety of tools/machines
Cable pulling through HDD conduits or onto offshore platforms
Cable repair and jointing
Once on site, duties and responsibilities of the Superintendent in the operative execution of cable installation works, include a full variety of aspects:
Technical/Quality, with regards to cable and equipment management and installation procedures, in compliance with specification and Project documentation
Health and Safety, for all personnel involved in the operations and reporting to the installation Team
Environment, as far as compliance with statutory and Company policy to preserve the environment and prevent pollution are concerned
Company Asset Care, for preliminary verification of test/certification, correct use during operations and respect of predefined maintenance for all assets, from the vessels and burial/subsea machines to all installation equipment and tools
Define, select, prepare installation assets (vessels, burial machines, general installation equipment)
Project constraints and specification, as far as the specific Contract clauses are concerned
Operative Schedule, in terms of efficiency and respect of plans
Client relationship care, with the Client Representatives present on site
Supervision of Subcontractors during the installation phase (including once more all above aspects, Technical, Quality, HSE, Contract, etc)
Interface with Installation Department Management and other Company Departments, mainly Project Management, Manufacturing, System Engineering, Quality, in terms of regular, suitable and correct reporting.
Installation Engineer in the office work
Between one offshore assignment and the next, only a limited number of office-based days are in the office in Milan, mainly dedicated to preparing documentation, consolidating reports, and ensuring the necessary internal coordination, while keeping the role firmly centered on offshore operational activities.
The duties contained in this job description are not exhaustive and the job holder may be asked by management to undertake reasonable duties associated with this function
We are looking for someone for a 10 years career path to be spent on frequent offshore travelling, 60/70% of time.
You are the right fit if you have/are:
- Fluent in English and Italian
- Preferably a a technical background in Engineering Technology or other Engineering related subjects.
- Preferably experience in a role involved in installation of submarine cable, more in general in the construction industry. To be noted that Prysmian has a dedicated training and development process within Marine Operations department.
- Strong communication & interpersonal skills
- Decision making attitude, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong teamwork skills, results oriented and ambitious mindset
