JOB SUMMARY:

The Kaleidoscope Program Therapist provides affirming, culturally responsive mental health services to LGBTQ+ individuals and families. This role combines direct therapeutic services with community outreach and engagement to support the emotional well-being, resilience, and empowerment of LGBTQ+ communities. The therapist collaborates with community partners, supports program initiatives, and helps expand access to inclusive mental health care.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Master’s degree in counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field.
  • Active clinical license or license eligibility (e.g., LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, or equivalent).
  • Experience providing mental health services to LGBTQ+ individuals and communities preferred.
  • Knowledge of LGBTQ+ affirming practices and the impact of minority stress and intersectionality on mental health.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and community engagement skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Experience facilitating support groups or community-based workshops, preferred
  • Experience with youth, families, and/or transitional-age youth in LGBTQ+ populations, preferred
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus, preferred


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Therapeutic Services

  • Provide individual, family, and/or group therapy to LGBTQ+ clients using evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, and ongoing clinical evaluations.
  • Address mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, identity development, family dynamics, and minority stress.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, case managers, and external providers to coordinate care.
  • Provide crisis intervention and appropriate referrals when needed.

Community Outreach and Engagement

  • Develop and maintain relationships with LGBTQ+ community organizations, schools, and service providers.
  • Participate in community events, workshops, and outreach activities to increase awareness of available mental health services.
  • Provide psychoeducation and mental health presentations for LGBTQ+ individuals, families, and community partners.
  • Assist with program development, outreach strategies, and engagement initiatives aimed at underserved LGBTQ+ populations.
  • Advocate for culturally competent and inclusive services within the community.

Program Support

  • Contribute to program planning, evaluation, and improvement efforts.
  • Support data collection, reporting, and outcome tracking for program initiatives when needed.
  • Stay informed about best practices in LGBTQ+ mental health and culturally responsive care.

The salary range represents the low and high end of the salary someone in this role may earn as an employee of Help Group. Salaries will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to, professional and academic experience, certification, training, responsibilities of the position, and other business and organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees. Salary decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each hire.
